Cape Town City defender Taariq Fielies has highlighted the threat of SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler, but insists that they won’t focus on individuals in the MTN8 final.
Tarra, as the lanky defender is known, will be unavailable for his side’s crucial cup-final clash against SuperSport at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday after he picked up a red card in his side’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium.
Speaking to TFG SoccerClub in an exclusive interview, the central defender acknowledged the form of SuperSport hitman Grobler, who is the tournament’s top-scorer with three goals in as many games. Grobler netted his goals across the two-legged semifinal victory over Kaizer Chiefs.
‘Bradley has been in good form of late and is scoring good goals but we as a team don’t dwell on individuals,’ he told TFG SoccerClub.
‘We focus on our own strengths and weaknesses as a team but most importantly we focused on playing our own game,’ he added.
Fielies added that victory for City would equate to a victory for the Mother City in addition to extending his gratitude to the City faithful.
‘We got amazing supporters at home and even when traveling away they come out in their numbers. We hope that is the case in Durban.
‘Even if it’s a handful we still appreciate their efforts – getting there and still supporting us throughout the 90 minutes so it will b great not only for our supporters but for Cape Town as well,’ he concluded.
