Cape Town City left-back Edmilson Dove believes the team with the most determination will walk away with the covenant MTN8 trophy on Saturday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The versatile Mozambican defender had been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but has opted to pledge his future to Benni McCarthy’s side after recently putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with the club.

Having already faced SuperSport on the opening day of the Absa Premiership campaign, Edmilson knows the importance of the encounter and expects it to be a different ball game on Saturday as the first piece of silverware of the season is at stake.

‘We can not compare the two games, they are two completely different games – the motivation is different as well,’ Edmilson said at Cape Town City’s training session.

‘We are playing for a trophy and we just have to play our game as we have been doing and see what happens.’

The former Clube Ferroviario de Maputo defender is well aware of the threat and quality Matsatsantsa possesses and he expects them to put up a real fight in the hope of lifting the trophy.

‘It’s not going to be an easy game they are a good team, they have a lot of quality players, but we are working on improving what we haven’t been good at. Its all about us and not SuperSport,’ he added.

‘Whoever is willing to work hard on the day will walk away with it.’

Cape Town City will square off with SuperSport United in the much-anticipated MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday with kick off set for 7pm.
