Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana revealed his desire to win the MTN8 trophy, which is the only piece of silverware he hasn’t won during his time at the club.
The 33-year-old already has winners’ medals for the Absa Premiership, Nedbank Cup, Telkom Knockout, Caf Champions and the Caf Super Cup.
However, Kekana says he is eager to add the MTN8 trophy to his list of honours, the only piece of silverware missing in his cabinet.
‘I have never won the MTN8, a trophy that I feel we really deserve to win as Sundowns, so it is a trophy that I would love to have, and obviously the rest of my team they really, really need that trophy. Denis Onyango is one of them, you know the list is long, so you can see the rest of the team really needs that trophy, because it is important to be in our archives. So I really need that MTN8, I have won, I think, every (trophy). I am hoping to win the Champions League again,’ Kekana told the media.
Sundowns fell short of booking their place in the final of the competition this season after a defeat to eventual winners Cape Town City in September this year.
