Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he expects a ‘closely contested match’ against SuperSport United in their MTN8 encounter on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys are set to host Matsatsantsa in their quarter-final encounter when the two sides lock horns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The 50-year-old believes that his side can expect a tough match against a quality SuperSport side as they prepare for the season ahead.

‘It is going to be a closely contested match,’ Komphela told his clubs official website.

‘We finished respectively fourth (Kaizer Chiefs) and fifth (SuperSport United) on the log, which makes it a tight match.’

Komphela will be hoping Amakhosi can advance to the next round of the competition after they were eliminated by Cape Town City at this stage last season.

‘SuperSport are a good side and, besides a few new players, they also have a new coach in Eric Tinkler,’ he added.

‘We will be looking at progressing to the next stage of the competition and go on to win the trophy.’

The Chiefs coach says he is well aware of the challenges that lie ahead this season, but says its important for his side to hi the ground running starting with the MTN8.

‘We want to start on a winning note. We’ve done our homework and are happy with the preparations so far.’

‘We want to uphold the tradition and the winning culture of the club. It is important that the integration of the new players must be swift. We have to perform from the first whistle of the season,’ Komphela concluded.

Kick-off has been set for 20:15.
