They faced Orlando Pirates in the quarter-finals, where Tembo’s men were victorious on penalties after a 2-2 draw, and Chiefs in the semi’s, where goals from Bradley Grobler fired SuperSport past the Glamour Boys over two legs.
Lakay has been a revelation for Matsatsantsa a Pitori in the competition and has continued to show his talent after returning from a short loan spell at Ajax Cape Town last season.
The 21-year-old has provided the SuperSport frontline with bundles of energy and pace and has proven to be the perfect foil to Grobler and Evans Rusikie.

Speaking ahead of the MTN8 final against Cape Town City, Lakay spoke to FourFourTwo SA about what it would mean to help guide his team to the MTN8 title.
‘It will mean a lot for the club, and it’s always good to win cups, that’s what everyone wants to do.
‘But we know it won’t be an easy game since it is the repeat of last year’s finals, so they would want to prove something,’ said Lakay.
SuperSport United and Cape Town City will do battle at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night, with kick off at 7pm.
