Orlando Pirates attacker Patrick Maswanganyi is relishing the chance to start “scoring” for his side after grabbing an assist in the win over Stellenbosch FC.
The 25-year-old grabbed two assists to help his side secure a 2-1 comeback victory over Stellies in the MTN8 semi-final first leg at Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
Maswanganyi has already contributed to six goals so far this season but is working on becoming a regular name on the score sheet for the Buccaneers.
“Thanks to my players, they always motivate me. I didn’t start well in the first half and we conceded the goal but we managed to come back and I’m very happy that we won away, it gives us a boost going back to Orlando, so very happy with the result,” Maswanganyi told SuperSport TV after the game.
“I think at half-time the coach told us to relax, we’re gonna get goals and we’re very happy that we managed to follow the instructions and we managed to score two goals away from home, so very happy with the performance.
“I think it also comes (down) to the individual if you’re doing well, you always want to do well, I think with the players that we have and the coaches, it’s very easy for me to adapt and to do well. So I’m very happy with my performance as well.
“I’m very happy that I’m able to give them assists and playing as a ten I also want to score goals, as well, in the next game I’ll probably score.”
