Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is expecting a tough game against Kaizer Chiefs when the two sides meet in the semi-finals of the MTN8 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Sundowns reached the semi-finals when they secured a narrow 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows courtesy of a 48th-minute goal from Themba Zwane at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi made their way into the final four after they defeated Cape Town City 2-0 at Athlone Stadium when Ashley Du Preez and Edson Castillo cancelled out Marc Van Heerden’s 23rd minute opener.
Mokwena insists his side will go all out to get a positive result in the first leg as they look to rectify their feat of last season in the competitions.
“It’s going to be a very interesting game, two very good sides in good moments in the early parts of the moments in the season, but we have to play as a once off and try to make sure that we get the results that give us good possibilities to approach the second leg with good confidence, but the mentality for us this season is to prepare as well as we can and try to win every single match,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.
“It’s a completely different competition, an important stage of a different competition – the semi-final and because we want to do better than we did last season, it’s important that we try to put ourselves in a different position with this competition in particular than where we were last season.
“Our experiences in a two legged affair tells us a lot of what happens in the second leg, is determined by what happens in the first leg regardless of whether it’s home or away.”
