Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that winger Joseph Molangoane suffered a broken ankle in their 3-0 MTN8 quarterfinal victory over Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.
Chiefs were looking for a response after their damaging 3-1 loss to the hands of Bidvest Wits in the mid-week Absa Premiership game.

Molangoane was drafted into the side and made an impact for coach Giovanni Solinas as he added a different dimension to the forward line which lacked a cutting edge at times against Wits.
The diminutive winger, however, had his game cut short when he went in for a challenge with Stars player Makhehleni Makhaula on the 50th minute.
Molangoane went sliding in for the ball and while the Stars defender was attempting to clear it, the resulting clash saw the Chiefs man stretchered off with what looked like a serious injury.

After the game Amakhosi coach Solinas confirmed Molangoane’s broken ankle, and added that it was a huge blow to his team.
‘We are very happy for this victory but we are also shocked because we lost a nice guy like Joseph,’ Solinas said.
‘We dedicate this victory to Joseph. It’s a serious injury. I hope this player can come back quickly.
‘My players are shocked in the dressing room. Some are very sad.
‘Rama [Ramahlwe Mphahlele] spoke to him now. He is shocked. They lost a teammate, we lost an important player.’

The injury could see the winger miss the rest of the season.
Chiefs also suffered another injury blow as Siphelele Ntshangase, who has impressed at the start of the season, went off injured later, but Solinas calmed the fears by insisting that the injury was not serious.
