Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki says his side brought the “A game” against Cape Town City in their victory at Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys secured their first victory under Ntseki after they clinched a hard-fought 2-1 win in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 competition.
Goals from Ashley Du Preez and Edson Castillo cancelled out Marc Van Heerden’s 23rd minute opener to earn Amakhosi the win which sees them advance to the semi-finals of the competition.
Ntseki felt his side deserved to be victorious following their performance on the day.
“Very positive result, the one that we needed, I think we said at the beginning of the game, this is our time, we have to turn things around,” Ntseki told SuperSport TV after the game.
“It’s the first win for the boys, for the club after so many chances we created today but I think it was meant to be. We brought in an A game, a good performance from each and everyone on the pitch and even those that were on the bench.
“And I must say well done to the boys, they deserve this. It’s a win for the chairman, for the board, it’s a win for our supporters.
“I think we worked more on the confidence and belief of our players, to say it’s a cup game we can’t be playing (only) in second half, we have to play from the first minute.
“And I think when you look at how we started, we actually meant that and I think even if you look at the chances we created towards the last minutes of the game, the critical phase, we respected those critical phases and I think a win is a well done for the boys.”
