Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes that SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo deserves to win the MTN8 trophy.
The Brazilians’ journey in the top-eight competition came to an end after suffering a 3-1 aggregate defeat by Tshwane rivals Matsatsantsa at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Goals from Teboho Mokoena and Jamie Webber booked SuperSport’s place in the finals of the competition, where they will meet Highlands Park at the Orlando Stadium on 5 October.
‘I would like to congratulate Kaitano [Tembo]. He needs this cup, he deserves this cup,’ Mosimane told the media.
Mosimane admits that it was difficult for his side to get back into the game after Matsatsantsa scored an early goal through Teboho Mokoena.
‘They scored an early goal and I knew it was going to be difficult to come back,’ he added.
Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off set for 6pm.
