Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says his team fought hard to secure the MTN8 title after they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties.
The Buccaneers have now claimed back-to-back top eight titles after securing a 3-1 win on penalties after the game ended goalless after 120 minutes of play.
Riveiro was delighted to see his bounce back after they suffered a defeat in the Caf Champions League which eliminated them from the competition.
“Just happiness, nothing else. I don’t think it’s a moment to analyse the game,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“We went through a difficult period recently, so the way that these guys fought for a trophy, for the club, for the Pirates family, for our fans to try to inspire them, to try to move them, to give them hope.
“Today, they could see, if you fight, if you are together until the end, even though went through difficult moments in the game, because they are good, it’s a good team, but we managed to stay together to really fight and get the result.
“So I’m extremely proud to be Orlando Pirates coach…”
