Peter Shalulile bagged a brace to guide Mamelodi Sundowns into the MTN8 final after defeating Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final second-leg clash on Saturday.
An error by Brandon Petersen led Amakhosi to a 2-1 loss against rivals Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Sundowns won the match 3-2 on aggregate after a very exciting match at a packed Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Shalulile was on high alert and stole the ball from Petersen, who was not paying attention, in the 10th second after the ball was kicked off. This was the first goal of the game.
Because of this, Chiefs fans yelled at their custodian every time he stepped off his line or got a back pass. But Ashley du Preez scored for the Chiefs from the penalty spot.
In the 34th minute, when Chiefs took a corner kick, Sipho Mbule was called for handling the ball, which gave Amakhosi a penalty.
Before the half, Sundowns attacked Chiefs in waves, and it took Shalulile a lot of tries to get his brace.
The Namibian headed the ball past Petersen after Ribeiro Costa sent him a cross. The Chiefs goalie had no chance because he had left his far post open.
But Chiefs kept trying to score a second goal that would have put them in the final. Molefi Ntseki brought in players like Jasond Gonzalez, Christian Saile, and Mduduzi Mdantsane, but Sundowns stayed strong and continued to the final despite the pressure.
