Mamelodi Sundowns left back Lyle Lakay has made his choice on which of his two former clubs will lift the MTN8 trophy on Saturday.
SuperSport United will be looking to defend their top eight trophy while Cape Town City are looking to exact revenge in a repeat of last year’s final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Lakay, who played for both SuperSport and City, will be hoping the Citizens can redeem themselves by snatching the trophy from United – having lost on penalties to Matsatsantsa in the final last year.
‘Obviously Cape Town City,’ Lakay told KickOff. ‘Because the majority of the guys are still there and we were like a family. I grew up with [Ebrahim] Seedat.
‘And obviously last year, losing in the final contributes to that.
‘So hopefully they can win, seeing that we couldn’t go all the way. Hopefully they can.’
Cape Town City will take on SuperSport United in the much-anticipated MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday with kick-off set for 7pm.
