SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo admitted that he faces a selection headache up front for the MTN8 final against Cape Town City.

Tembo is looking to win his first major trophy as a head coach since taking over from Eric Tinkler back in March.

The former Matsatsantsa a Pitori assistant coach will have a tough decision to make ahead of the repeat of last year’s final as several of his forwards have found their scoring form.

Bradley Grobler, Evans Rusike and James Keene have all been among the goals this campaign, whether in the league or MTN8, leaving Tembo with a number of options when selecting his starting 11 for the showpiece occasion at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

‘To be honest I want to have a headache [selection] like this because a lot of players have been raising their hands, not just for the final, but for the other games as well.

‘I have a competitive squad which pushes each other at training. No matter who plays they give each other support. We still have a few days to think and analyse to see who will be suited for the game,’ added Tembo.

Tembo, who has been in the role of permanent head coach for two months, has a chance to repay the faith shown in him by the hierarchy at the club but he is not letting emotion get in the way.

‘I am a bit chilled because that is the kind of person I am. I don’t show a lot of emotion. I know it is an important game for us and for myself.

‘But what is important is the club, as it comes first. I can only thank the board, led by the chairman Khulu Sibiya and the CEO Stan Matthews, for giving me the opportunity. It is not easy but for them to show confidence in me to take responsibility of such a big club is very humbling. I can only reward them by going [on] to win the final,’ concluded the coach.
