Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy insists that SuperSport United will find it hard to come to Cape Town Stadium and walk away with a positive result, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.
The Citizens are currently on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with their most recent victory coming at Cape Town Stadium when they cruised past Free State Stars 5-0 in the league last week.
The Mother City-based outfit have already played SuperSport four times so far this season and have come out victorious in three of those clashes, including two in the Absa Premiership and one in the MTN8 final, but McCarthy has warned his side not to underestimate their opponents despite the current form of City.
‘What can I say, last season it was [Bidvest] Wits four times in a season, and this season it’s SuperSport United, but we take what we get,’ Benni said.
‘We just try to prepare well and go out there, and do what we are supposed to do,’ he added. ‘We give 150% and if they get better than us, the best team will advance, but I’m pretty sure my players will give 150%.
‘It will be pretty tough to come out victorious against us [Cape Town City].’
Cape Town City are set to welcome rivals SuperSport United to Cape Town Stadium when the two sides meet in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday, with kick-off set for 8:15pm.
