Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy says he is over the moon after his side qualified for the Nedbank Cup quarter-final.
The Citizens advanced to the next round of the tournament after claiming a comfortable 3-0 victory over Highlands Park at Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening.
McCarthy revealed that the players spoke about being impressed with the playing styles of Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, the City mentor insisted that in order for his side to play at that level they would have to show consistency and not just for 45 minutes on the pitch.
‘For me, it is a bit worrying and a bit frustrating that we have to wait for these kind of performances, it’s either we get it one half and not in the other half, we are missing the trick about consistency, that you’ve got to do it over 90 minutes,’ McCarthy said after the game.
‘In my dressing room, players are always talking about Man City and Liverpool and the nice football we are trying to emulate, so we have to do it on a consistent basis and over 90 minutes, we can’t just do it for 45 minutes, so if you want to admire people, then you have to execute it yourself.
‘But, I am over the moon that we have our passage in to the next round.’
