Bloemfontein Celtic secured a 2-0 victory over Buya Msuthu, while Baroka beat FC Cape Town 2-0 to progress to the next round of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
Celtic got off to a bright start and took the lead in the 40th seconds when Masuku lifted the ball to the far post to find Deon Hotto, who headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Meanwhile, Msuthu saw a lot of possession of the ball in the opening 15 minutes when they came close to levelling matters with their long-range efforts.
The home side almost equalised in the 35th minute when Ronald Borake was played through on goal, but the winger placed his effort wide of the crossbar.
After the first 45 minutes of the match, Celtic went into the half-time interval with a 1-0 lead over Msuthu.
Msuthu continued to see most of the possession and came close to pulling a goal back in the 78th minute when Atisang Batsi turned in the box, but he failed to keep his effort on target from close range.
Vuyisile Wana came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute and made an immediate impact when he turned home a low cross from Atusaye Nyondo to double Celtic’s lead.
However, Celtic managed to hold on to their 2-0 lead until the final whistle to book their place in the next round of the competition.
Meanwhile, Baroka progressed to the next round of the competition after playing out to a 2-0 victory over FC Cape Town at the NNK Rugby Stadium through goals by Ndivhuwo Ravhuhal and Richard Matloga.
Ajax Cape Town were beaten 4-3 on penalties against Kwadukuza United, when the match ended in a 2-2 after 120 minutes of play at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
