SuperSport United booked their spot in the Nedbank Cup last 16 after claiming a 3-1 win over Cape Town City in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday night.
Matsatsantsa opened the scoring in the 18th minute when 18-year-old Share Campbell broke the deadlock after latching on to a ball from Lyle Lakay to make it 1-0.
City managed to draw the game level just before the half time break when in-form striker Khanyisa Mayo slotted the ball past Ricardo Goss to make it 1-1.
However, neither side could find the winning goal in 90 minutes or extra-time forcing the game to be settled in a penalty shootout.
Goss proved to be the hero in the shootout after saving three penalties to hand his side a 3-1 win in Tshwane.
Matsatsantsa will now join Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the last 16 after they clinched a 6-1 victory over NB La Masia.
