Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says his side can expect a ‘tough’ quarter-finals clash against SuperSport United when they meet in the Nedbank Cup.

The Glamour Boys were drawn against SuperSport United in the next round of the competition after they beat Acornbush 2-1 at the Kabokweni Stadium when a brace by Gustavo Paez cancelled out Mudzunga Sidumo’s 43rd-minute opener.

The 49-year-old coach admits that his side face a tough task ahead as SuperSport coach Stuart Baxter is no stranger to the Amakhosi team.

‘We don’t have a choice at this stage,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘It is going to be a tough match. Stuart Baxter has the Chiefs DNA. He coached Chiefs and most of his players played for Chiefs as well.’

Matsatsantsa are the defending Nedbank Cup champions, while the Glamour Boys last won the cup back in 2013 under the guidance of Stuart Baxter when they beat SuperSport United 1-0 in the final.

The quarter-final clash between the two sides is set to take place at the FNB Stadium but the PSL competition committee will decide and announce the logistics in due course.

Kaizer Chiefs will now return to the Absa Premiership when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.

The match at the Dr Molemela Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
