Leonardo Castro celebrates goal against Stellenbosch

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he was impressed with Bernard Parker and Leonardo Castro’s link up play against Stellenbosch.

Amakhosi booked their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final after running out 2-1 winners over the  National First Division outfit on Saturday.

Komphela says he was impressed with the combination between Parker and Castro in the final third, which ultimately led to Amakhosi’s second goal of the game.

‘There were a lot of positives to build on,’ Komphela told his club’s official website, ‘even Castro’s goal came from Parker’s touch.’

‘We will take this win to the next match, because after a win one goes to the next match with less pressure.

‘For now, we will enjoy this win while staying grounded.’

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker says he was impressed with Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso, who was named Man of the Match during their las 16 fixture.

‘Cardoso was fantastic tonight,’ Barker said. ‘No wonder that Chiefs have conceded so few goals this season, as they are very tight and well organised in defence.’

Kaizer Chiefs will next host AmaZulu in their Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 18:00.
