Cape Town City goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh believes their Nedbank Cup clash against Highlands Park will give them another opportunity to prove they are a quality side, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.
The Citizens progress to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after securing a 2-0 win over SuperSport United at Cape Town Stadium in their opening fixture.
However, City’s seven-game unbeaten run came to an end when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu in the Absa Premiership over the weekend.
Leeuwenburgh is hoping his side can continue their momentum in their cup game following their success in the MTN8.
‘The MTN8 suited us very well, but competitive competitions are always nice, every game is more or less a fight,’ Leeuwenburgh said.
‘It’s an opportunity for us because we are on a good run,’ he added. ‘We had a good game on the weekend (against AmaZulu), besides the result.
‘We are on a good run, but it’s just another game to show how good the team really is.’
Cape Town City are set to welcome Highlands Park to Cape Town City when the two sides meet in the Nedbank Cup on Friday.
