Tshegofatso Mabasa moves one step closer to beating Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Vilakazi’s all-time scoring record following his hat-trick against Baroka FC in the Nedbank Cup.

Mabasa netted a hat-trick to fire his side into the quarter-finals following their 3-1 victory over Baroka FC at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has now moved up to second place in the Buccaneers all-time top goalscorer list, moving into second with 44 goals behind leader Bernedict Vilakazi on 58.

Speaking after the match, Mabasa remained humble, emphasising the importance of the team’s success over personal accolades. “I’m happy with today’s performance, and I’m glad to see the team bounce back after
the loss in our previous game,” Mabasa said. “For me, it’s not about personal milestones.

I want to focus on the team’s goals because they are more impactful and meaningful for the club and our fans. We’re all working hard to achieve something special this season.”
