Chippa United has confirmed that forward Rhulani Manzini is a doubtful starter for their Nedbank Last 32 clash against Witbank Spurs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old striker has only managed to appear eight times this season, nevertheless scoring five goals after being plagued with injury setbacks.
The Chilli Boys team physio Mark Anderson has confirmed that the striker picked up a knock in his previous match and he will not be made available for selection in their upcoming clash.
‘Rhulani got a knock on his head towards the end of the game in East London, and as a precaution, he will not be available for the Nedbank game,’ Anderson told the Chippa United website.
‘He was taken to hospital after the game for assessment and has not trained with the team since.’
‘This was due to a grade left AC joint injury after falling awkwardly in a tackle. He like, Rhulani is a doubt for the next game.’
However, the Chilli Boys have been boosted by the return to training of Paseka Mako, who was replaced at half-time as a precautionary measure too, due to a small hamstring strain he sustained against Wits.
Chippa winger Vusumuzi Mncube is improving and recovering after his knee surgery and should be made available for selection, along with Bongani Kama, while Siya Ngubane and Katlego Mashego are both back in training with the club.
Chippa United will now take on Witbank Spurs in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Wednesday.
The match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
