Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho is relishing the chance to go all the way in the Nedbank Cup to end their trophy drought of nearly three years.
The Glamour Boys are set to welcome Golden Arrows to the FNB Stadium when the two sides meet in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.
Mathoho admits Abafana Bes’thende won’t be a walk in the park, but insists that his side are highly motivated to progress to the next round in their bid to claim silverware this season.
‘Cup games are different. Unlike a league match, only one team progresses to the next round – you win or you go out,’ Mathoho told his club’s official website.
‘We haven’t won a cup in nearly three years. So this has to be ours. There is, however, still a long road to go and we have to treat each game as a final.
‘It won’t be an easy game against Arrows. They are a hard team to beat, which means that we will need to come out fighting.’
He added: ‘Without the supporters we are nothing. The Nedbank Cup is a step-by-step journey towards the final. I hope that our supporters will join us on this exciting journey.’
