Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says he welcomes the challenge of KwaDukuza United in their Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash on Saturday.

The Urban Warriors are set to travel to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium when they take on the ABC Motsepe League side.

The 53-year-old says he welcomes the challenge of KwaDukuza United, especially against a team he has never played against before.

‘Look, first it is good to play Nedbank Cup games against teams you have never played before, teams you don’t know a lot about – it is a good challenge,’ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.

‘I think for the opponent it is nice to play against a Premiership team, on the other hand, the challenge is that we don’t know a lot about them, so that is actually the biggest challenge.

‘As a Premiership team playing a lower league team, it is always: you have a lot to lose and nothing to win.

KwaDukuza United, formerly known as Natal United, caused a Nedbank Cup shock when they defeated Chippa United on the same Round of 32 stage two years ago.

Menzo has urged his side to remain focused on getting a positive result and insists that he has done his homework on the ABC Motsepe League side.

‘I haven’t been in this position [head coach of Ajax] for very long, but yes I have done some research on our opponents. I know what colour they play in, I know their coach,’ he added.

‘I received a Whatsapp with a graphic on Twitter of me and their coach [Thami Ngubane] – I saw the coach, which is nice.

‘I know it is an experienced coach and I know that in 2015 the team beat Chippa United and lost to Golden Arrows. That is why I want to say again, that as a team playing in a higher league, we can’t take it easy.’

Ajax Cape Town will now travel to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium when they take on KwaDukuza United on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 15:00.
