Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise admits that the African giants are licking their wounds, following their Nedbank Cup dismissal at the hands of Golden Arrows.

Pitso Mosimane’s men extended their winless streak to five consecutive games in all competitions, after Nduduzo Sibiya’s strike condemned them to a 1-0 loss at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 34-year-old, who was handed a rare start in his side’s loss, made way for striker Leonardo Castro in the 88th minute and highlighted the need to accept the loss and move on.

‘Look we are sad after having to exit the Nedbank Cup, but this does not mean we are all of a sudden a team that plays bad football,’ he told his official website.

‘It is natural to lose once in a while, we cannot win every game we play,’ he added.

The Chloorkop-based outfit’s last victory came on 10 March when they secured a 2-1 victory against Ugandan outfit Kampala City Capital Authority in the Caf Champions League.

Modise says he is adamant that his side will return back to winning ways when they take on SuperSport United on Thursday.

‘Yes, it is great to win, but that is just like life. Sometimes things go your way and sometimes they do not.

‘We have to soldier on and the good days will return in time. We take the loss and we move on,’ he added.

The veteran midfielder has so far assisted one goal from 13 appearances in all competitions playing for the Brazilians this season.

Sundowns will look to put an end to their winless streak of five consecutive games in all competitions when they face cross-town rivals SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership encounter on Thursday evening at the Loftus Versveld Stadium.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
