Kaizer Chiefs youngster Siyabonga Ngezana believes that his team needs a victory in the Nedbank Cup more than Free State Stars does, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
The Amakhosi have not won a trophy in three years and with league success eluding them again, the Naturena-based side are desperate to taste triumph in the Nedbank Cup.
Ngezana spoke to the media on Wednesday in preparation for the cup semi-final highlighted the importance of winning the Nedbank Cup for Chiefs.
‘We are looking forward to the game on Saturday, which is a big one. We need something to brag about at the end of the season, to fulfil our promises [to the fans].
‘We haven’t won anything for the past three seasons, I think we need it more. We need it more than Free State. This coming game and the Nedbank as a whole. It [winning the cup] comes with the opportunity of Caf. I think this is the one that we are focusing on,’ added Ngezana.
When asked why they need it more than Luc Eymael’s side, the Chiefs academy product said: ‘Why? Because it has been three seasons without a trophy and this is our only opportunity whereby we can give back to the fans.’
