KwaDukuza United coach Thami Ngubane believes his players can ‘rise to the occasion’ and defeat Ajax Cape Town in their Nedbank Cup clash on Saturday.
The KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League side have set their sights on beating the Urban Warriors in their Nedbank Cup Round of 32, to book their spot in the next round of the competition.
KwaDukuza United (formerly known as Natal United) hope to do justice to their ‘giant killing’ pedigree, earned when the then Natal United beat Absa Premiership side Chippa United on the same stage two years ago.
The former Thanda Royal Zulu coach believes his side have prepared well enough to cause a major upset against the Absa Premiership side on Saturday.
‘We have the players that can rise to the occasion against Ajax. We want to give players an opportunity to showcase their talent,’ Ngubane said.
‘We have prepared very well for Ajax Cape Town. They are favorites, but we can surprise them.
The KwaDukuza United coach insists that his side are going to take advantage of the fact that the Urban Warriors are not in the best of form at the moment.
‘This is a big stage for these players, but we have a couple of experienced players. Ajax are not doing well, we must take advantage,’ he concluded.
Ajax Cape Town will now travel to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium when they take on KwaDukuza United on Saturday.
Kick-off has been set for 15:00.
