Ajax Cape Town forward Prince Nxumalo says he was left disappointed, following their shock defeat against KwaDukuza United in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
Ayanda Makua opened the scoring in the first minute for the Urban Warriors before Lizo Mthabela equalised nine minutes later. However, the match was forced to penalties after Menzi Madela cancelled out Prince Nxumalo’s 67th minute goal.
KwaDukuza United eventually secured a 4-4 victory on penalties over the Urban Warriors when the match finished 2-2 after 120 minutes of play.
The 26-year-old says he was left embarrassed after his side’s defeat against KwaDukuza and he admits that he did not expect the Urban Warriors to lose against them.
‘I’d say we didn’t expect to lose and we feel embarrassed,’ Nxumalo told the Ajax Cape Town website.
Nevertheless, Nxumalo believed KwaDukuza played well and put up a good fight, but he insists that he is turning is attention to their next match against Ea Lla Koto in the Absa Premiership.
‘Yes, I scored, but it’s bittersweet because the team lost, but I think scoring today [Saturday] will also help me going forward and also into the next game.
‘These KwaDukuza boys played well and they were up for the fight.’
The former SuperSport United striker has managed to score a total of four goals from 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Ajax Cape Town will next welcome Free State Stars to Athlone Stadium on Friday.
Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
