Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker is relishing the chance to make an impact in their Nedbank Cup semi-final against Chippa United on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys advanced to the last four after claiming a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in the previous round.

Parker insists that the team always comes first and that they will continue to push for a better position on the Absa Premiership standings, while focusing on their semi-final clash.

‘I am enjoying my game,’ Parker told his club’s official website, ‘The team always comes first.’

‘We are entering the last stage of the season. We can still finish in a respectable position on the log, but our full focus is now on the semi-final.

‘It’s crucial that the attitude and energy levels of everybody involved are right. It’s our goal to go to the next round, which is the final.’

‘We will play a side that fights for every ball and that is very aggressive,’ Parker comments, ‘and you saw that in their game against Wits.’

The veteran striker has become a regular in Amakhosi’s starting lineup since Ernst Middendorp took over the helm at the club.

‘I am happy that the coach puts trust in me,’ Parker said. ‘I am one of the senior players in the squad, which means that I have to be exemplary in working hard at training.

‘I also want my positive energy to rub off on my teammates. When I play, I always put the team first in my performance. It is known that I have assisted with many attacking moves, but I have also contributed in the defensive part.’

Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium when they take on Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup semi-final on Saturday, with kick-off set for 8:15pm.
