Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker is relishing the chance to help Amakhosi overcome Royal Eagles to move one step closer to the Nedbank Cup trophy.

The Soweto giant will take on the second-tier side in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup when the sides battle it out at the FNB Stadium for a place in the round of 16.

The Amakhosi forward’s performance for Chiefs so far this campaign has recently earned him a new one-year contract extension to remain at the club until the end of the 2020-21 season.

However, Parker insists that he is solely focused on doing well for the club and has turned his focus to their upcoming clash with Eagles.

‘I am blessed and grateful to have had my contract extended,’ Parker told his club’s official website.

‘This will allow me to leave Chiefs with further success, I have lived the dream here. I have always given my all here at Chiefs, and this contract extension is the reward for my loyalty and the service I have given to the team. I am glad to continue to be an ambassador for this club for another season.’

The 33-year-old says he is relishing the chance to help the Soweto giants walk away with silverware this campaign following their recent trophy drought.

‘Potentially we have 16 games left for the season: 11 in the league and hopefully five in the Nedbank Cup – we can achieve something,’ he added.

‘I will try to use my experience the best way I can on and off the field to help the team in the next 18 months. My aim will be to win as many trophies as we can. It has been a long time since we tasted success, so we are just going to work hard week in and week out to ensure that we are successful.’

Kaizer Chiefs against Royal Eagles kicks off at 6pm.
