Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro believes their 4-0 victory over Hungry Lions is not a true reflection of how they performed in the Nedbank Cup.
The Buccaneers are through to the next round of the competition after Tshegofatso Mabasa bagged a brace, an own goal by Morena Monaheng and a goal from Monnapule Saleng at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday
The victory sees the Soweto giant move on to the quarter-finals and continue to defend their championship this season.
Riveiro was proud of his side but felt his side could have scored more goals against the Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit.
“Congratulations to the opponent tonight, I think they played a good game, brave. They occupied the spaces very well in the defensive phase, we didn’t have so much space in little pockets, with the back-four really high, so it was about being precise,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.
“You have to try again and again, we tried, we did it very well I think in some moments.
“We scored the goal with that run to the space first, then we provoked the red-card and a couple of situations before with Rele (Mofokeng). Overall I think we were superior, but I think the 4-0 is not telling the whole truth about the game.”
