Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is shifting their focus to their upcoming Nedbank Cup final against Sekhukhune United when the two sides meet at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Sea Robbers made their way into the final of the competition after they defeated arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the semi-final when Kermit Erasmus and Sandile Mthethwa cancelled out Yusuf Maart’s 79th minute equaliser at the FNB Stadium on May 6.
Sekhukhune, meanwhile, advanced to the final two after they clinched a 4-3 win on penalties over Stellenbosch FC after the game ended goalless at the Danie Craven Stadium on May 7.
Pirates will come into this fixture high in confidence after they secured a second place finish in the DStv Premiership to book their spot in next year’s Caf Champions League.
Riveiro has asked his side to keep their celebrations for after the final as he wants his side fully focus on the task at hand in the hopes of clinching the final piece of silverware on offer this season.
“We will celebrate the win because what we did is important and on Monday, we shift our focus to the final because we hope for a good performance in the final,” Riveiro told the media.
The match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm on Saturday evening.
