Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says to come back in a game against Mamelodi Sundowns is not made for everyone.
The Buccaneers retained their Nedbank Cup crown following their 2-1 win over Sundowns at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening.
Themba Zwane opened the scoring for Sundowns in the 54th minute but a 71st minute penalty by Patrick Maswanganyi and a stoppage time goal from Relebohile Mofokeng handed Pirates the win on the day.
Riveiro was happy with his team’s performance as he knows that its difficult to come back against a team of Sundowns’ calibre.
“Have a look, happiness, we gave our all, that’s what the people were expecting from us, happy people looking at us today and we did it. To come back in a game against Sundowns is not made for everyone,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“It’s an excellent team, they made us suffer a lot during the 90 minutes. We had our moments during the game but again we tried our best to see our people happy.
“So congratulations to them, everyone involved in this project, the chairman, the management of the club, all the players that were part of this season, which is not a small number, congratulations to the coaching staff and congratulations to me as well.”
