Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says his side must move on after their semi-final defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup.

The Brazilians suffered a 2-1 defeat against Amakhosi at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, which saw Chiefs progress to the final and Sundowns journey come to an end in the competition.

Teboho Mokoena opened the scoring for the Tshwane giants before Chiefs fought back and claimed the win through goals from Wandile Duba and Ashley Du Preez.

Cardoso felt his side should have won the game but admits that individual errors led to their defeat.

“In this team, we win together, we lose together that’s an individual mistake everybody saw, clear, we have to raise and stand for him that’s what everybody is trying to do and we did it well,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV after the game.

“We were not scared to be in the game, we were the only team looking for a goal in the second half, but football is like this out of mistakes somebody takes profit and this is what happens.”

He added: “Basically, we saw one team that wanted to make effort between the game and the other one that wanted to sustain it. It was clear that the team with the intention to win was Sundowns. The first half was not the best one no doubt, but it was not the best one for both teams,” he said.

“I think at halftime we corrected, we came out stronger, we controlled the game, and unfortunately there’s an incredible mistake that brings one goal and brings alive one team that was dead that’s the story of this game.

“From then on, we continued and we pushed trying to go for the second goal and then we suffered from a corner or free-kick whatever…that I need to see. It’s obviously not good, but we have to keep on going,” he continued.
