Orlando Pirates defender Tapelo Xoki say his side prides themselves on being and working as a unit rather than focusing on having an “individual show”.
The Buccaneers have already tasted success this season after they won the MTN8 title while also finishing in second place in the DStv Premiership standings to secure their spot in next year’s Caf Champions League.
Pirates will now have another chance to lift silverware when they take on Sekhukhune United in the final of the Nedbank Cup which is scheduled to take place at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this coming Saturday.
Xoki, who scored one goal and assisted another in 27 appearances across all competitions, says the club’s success stems from the players trusting the process of coach Jose Riveiro and his technical team.
“The leadership of the coaches has been amazing this season, and the calm way in which they convey the information. When things are not going well, they always keep us calm,” says defender Tapelo Xoki.
“The brotherhood of the players has also been key this season. We pride ourselves on being a unit. It has never been an individual show and we support each other. That has kept us going through some tough stretches.
“We always knew it’s a process and we trusted that process as well as kept our belief in one another.”
