Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou is naturally pleased after the Johannesburg High Court restored the Urban Warriors’ status to the PSL.

The Mother City outfit were handed a major boost in their bid to avoid automatic relegation to the National First Division for the infamous Tendai Ndoro-gate after Judge Denise Fisher ruled in favour of the Urban Warriors.

The Fifa player status committee will now make the final ruling on the matter involving Ndoro and Ajax’s relegation to the National First Division.

The result of the decision sees the Urban Warriors move back to 15th spot on the table, to which Efstathiou revealed his happiness, however, the Ajax CEO stated that they are waiting for further clarity from Judge Fisher’s ruling before proceeding.

‘Ajax Cape Town are naturally very pleased with Judge Fisher’s ruling to set aside Advocate Mokhari’s award,’ he told his club’s official website.

‘The club will make further comment once full clarity on Judge Fisher’s judgement is received from its legal team,’ he said.

It remains to be seen what the way forward is, but what’s clear is that the promotion/relegation playoffs that took place and saw Black Leopards being elevated to the top-flight is null and void.

The result of this saga is likely to cause a delay in the start date of the 2018-19 season, which is set to commence on the weekend of 3-4 August 2018.
