AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has dismissed reports linking former Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele to the club following his recent departure from the Soweto giants.
The 35-year-old parted ways with the club, marking the end of his 16-year illustrious career at the Buccaneers.
Over the course of his career, Jele made over 400 appearances across all competitions while scoring 18 goals and assisting a further seven in the process.
Jele leaves the Buccaneers, having won eight trophies, including two league titles, three MTN8 trophies, two Nedbank Cups as well as one Telkom Knockout Cup trophy.
The veteran defender has since become a free agent and been linked with a move to Usuthu, but the club president has since denied claims that they are looking to sign him, despite his availability for transfer.
“We will not be signing Happy Jele,” Zungu told KickOff. “He is definitely not coming to us.
“We are done with making any more signings, the team is in camp right now in Limpopo around Polokwane preparing for the new season.
“They will be done with camp soon.
“They will be playing in the Mangosuthu Cup this weekend, then there will be the Premier’s Cup, then the DStv Premiership kicks off next month.
“So, when it comes to signing new players at this stage, we are done with it.”
