Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus is determined and motivated ahead of their Absa Premiership clash with Polokwane City on Saturday.

Amakhosi will go into their next league encounter on a four-game unbeaten run, after securing one draw and three wins in their first four games so far this season.

The Glamour Boys currently sit top of the league standings after collecting 10 points from a possible 12 points, with second-placed Bidvest Wits trailing them by just one point.

Baccus feels that Rise and Shine will not hold back against Amakhosi, despite playing Highlands Park in the MTN8 semi-final second leg three days later.

‘Every team wants to win every game,’ he told his club’s official website.

‘They will have their best players playing on Saturday and then they will have to back it up on Tuesday. It happens all over the world – the best players in the world playing all the time.’

‘I have seen some of their games. I feel it is going to be a very direct game, we need to play to our strong points.’

Baccus, who spent a vast part of his career playing in Australia, says he is pleased by his contributions to the team’s achievements, having already scored one goal and provided one assist so far this season.

‘Every year I want to get better and better regardless of age. I came to South Africa to help the team get back to winning ways and things are working out so far and I am happy,’ he added.

‘I feel good and I am enjoying the training. We are doing everything that is football related. I’m adapting to training and playing at a higher altitude in Johannesburg. There were days when I found it difficult to breathe but now, I am getting fitter and I still have a lot more to give.

‘Three wins and one draw is a good start but there is another 26 games to go and we can’t get ahead of ourselves. We have to stay grounded and keep working hard as we have been doing,’ Baccus concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs against Polokwane City kicks off at 6pm.
