Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has confirmed that the club has officially parted ways with coach Kgoloko Thobejane.
Thobejane was released from his contract after he was suspended on 10 February for allegedly drinking on the team bus after their 2-0 away defeat to Free State Stars on 3 February.
However, the coach denied the allegations against him, while captain Olaleng Shaku and goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke were both released by the club last week.
Mphahlele said the decision to part ways with Thobejane was reached last week when the suspended coach failed to appear for his disciplinary hearing.
‘I can confirm that we have officially parted ways with coach Kgoloko Thobejane‚’ Mphahlele told SowetanLIVE.
‘A decision to release him was actually reached last week on February 28 in absentia after he failed to honour a disciplinary hearing meeting.
‘He came to our offices yesterday [Monday] merely to collect his [guilty] verdict but a decision was actually reached last week.
‘We thank him for his hard work and dedication throughout his tenure with the club and wish him everything of the best in his future endeavours.’
In the absence of Thobejane, Bakgaga has appointed MacDonald Makhubedu as head coach on an interim basis.
Baroka are currently seventh in the Absa Premiership standings with 24 points, having won seven out of 24 games played so far this season.
