Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett is expecting a “tough game” when they welcome Platinum City Rovers to Athlone Stadium in their next Motsepe Foundation Championship clash on Friday afternoon.
The Urban Warriors go into this encounter high in confidence following their 2-0 victory over Casric Stars in a top of the table clash at Athlone Stadium one week ago.
The win saw Spurs move up to second place in the league standings – level on 50 points with leaders Polokwane City and third placed Casric Stars.
Bartlett has urged his side to convert all their chances in the final third as they look to move one step closer to gaining automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.
“After our last game, against the then leaders Casric Stars, having a 2-0 victory at home put us in a very good position,” Bartlett told his club’s official website.
“Now, another long game coming up against Platinum City Rovers. Out of the last four games, three of the teams are fighting for their lives, literally, to stay in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“We are expecting a tough game but also, we know that if we do the right things, we are well capable of creating many opportunities.
“It’s just a matter of converting those opportunities so, what we’ve been focusing on the last couple of weeks, playing practice matches and training itself.
“It’s for our players to stay a little bit more calm and composed in that final third.”
