Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was pleased with his side’s overall performance after they walked away with all three points against Swallows FC at the Dobsonville Stadium this past Sunday.

The Glamour Boys managed to make it three wins from three games in the DStv Premiership after they cruises to a 3-1 victory over the Dude Birds when in-form attacker Keagan Dolly got on the scoresheet before Khama Billiat bagged a brace.

The win lifted Amakhosi up to second place in the league standings with 22 points from 13 matches, while Swallows dropped down to the foot of the table with eight points from 12 games.

Baxter criticised the pitch conditions at Dobsonville Stadium but was pleased with how his players stepped up to deal with it.

“First half it was really, really difficult to play football. The pitch was boggy. It looks very nice but it was very boggy. The rain and wind especially in the first half an hour was very, very troublesome,” Baxter told SuperSport TV after the game.

“I thought our shape and balance was quite good and then our front players with their movement and their liveliness, they produced three moments of excellence and that was enough to win the game. And then we were managing the game in the second half because with the pitch you just wanted to get away with three points.

“We tried to press high. We played with three centre backs because that suited the material that we had today. But also we played with three centre backs so we could press them in that way to stop their inverted full backs from getting on the ball and overloading the midfield. I think they went long more than they wanted to and it worked out OK,” he added.

Meanwhile, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Siyabonga Ngezana made long-awaited returns to competitive action after coming off the bench.

The Amakhosi mentor was pleased with the performances of the duo, while also reserving praise for Kearyn Baccus and Anthony Agay, who came into the squad for Cole Alexander and Phathutshedzo Nange.

“We’ve got a squad. And we need to share the load. I thought Kearyn Baccus was excellent. Anthony worked hard but I think he’s had better days. He’s a great character. And Ntiya was ‘Little Dynamite Jim’ when he came on, wasn’t he? And Happy got some minutes as well and, as you said, Bibo got some minutes as well. All round a good day. And we got Siya back on the football field for the first time in a long time.

“We look forward to all the games. And then, after the game, you can ask me if I enjoyed it,” concluded Baxter.
