SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter believes the success of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Caf Champions League is positive for South African football.
Sundowns recorded a 2-0 victory in the second-leg of their semi-final tie against Zesco United this past weekend to book their place in the final, where they will meet Egyptian giants Zamalek.
Baxter, meanwhile, is hopeful his Matsatsantsa side can match the achievements of the Brazilians in this season’s edition of the competition
‘It’s good news anytime any South African team does well,’ Baxter told the media, reports KickOff.
‘We will be looking do that as well as we can [in the Confederation Cup]. And for Sundowns, I think everybody in South Africa wishes them all the best.’
Baxter has struggled to perform in the African showpiece tournament in the past as his Kaizer Chiefs side failed to make an impact.
Meanwhile, Baxter’s SuperSport have failed to hit the ground running in the new Premiership season as they have won just once in four matches.
