Benni McCarthy has spoken out publicly for the first time since his contract with Cape Town City was terminated.

The Citizens announced at midnight that McCarthy’s contract was terminated with immediate effect following a bad string of results.

The 41-year-old failed to hit the ground running in his third campaign with City and could only manage to secure two wins from 18 games across all competitions.

However, McCarthy has since responded to his departure from CT City, saying he is disappointed.
‘I’m disappointed to end my time at the Club but I would like to nevertheless thank the Club, & particularly the players, the fans and the community of Cape Town for their support and commitment over the last two years. I’m proud of my time at the Club and wish them all the best,’ McCarthy said on his official Twitter account.
