Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has lifted the lid on reports suggesting he is eyeing a return to former club Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 29-year-old dominated the headlines during the most recent transfer window and was the subject of speculation linking him with a move back to Chloorkop.
The Zimbabwe international spent just one season in Naturena after leaving the Tshwane giants as a free agent, having scored nine goals and assisted a further 10 from 35 appearances in all competitions last season.
‘I was trying not to read a lot and I was trying to stay focused, not to be distracted and it demanded a lot of mental strength from me. I think I couldn’t have done better,’ Billiat told the media.
‘I can’t confirm that [they contacted me] because I don’t know what was happening. I didn’t get anything to my phone and everything [I know] I just read on social media,’ he added.
‘Like I said, I don’t know what was happening, and I just thought it was rumours.
‘I’m happy, this is my home and I have to make my environment as best as I want it to be – it’s exactly what I hoped for and I just hope it will be like this forever.’
‘I don’t know, I don’t know … I don’t know if they’re still doing it [playing these mind games]. I know from my experience that it used to work,’ he concluded.
