Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has urged his side not to underestimate Maritzburg United when the two meet in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup.
The Glamour Boys are currently on an eight-game winning run across all competitions and are determined to book their place in the final at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
The 29-year-old has been one of the standout performers for Amakhosi this season and has managed to score one goal and assist a further two from 10 appearances in all competitions.
Having been successful with the Zimbabwean national team while on international duty, Billiat is now looking to replicate that form with Chiefs when they take the Team of Choice.
‘I am feeling good. We are in a good space and we are just trying to be as professional as we can. We want to come back now and continue from where we left before the International break,’ Billiat told his club’s website.
‘We are expecting a good game, a tough game. They are a hardworking team. If we don’t do the basics correct, they can punish us – they work nicely together.
‘We believe in our team. We are strong and if we go into this game with the right mindset we can win. It’s vital to get to the final, it will boost our confidence individually as well as collectively. It will help us do well in the league and for the rest of the season going forward – that’s why we need to win this game.
‘Our supporters add extra motivation for the team, and they have come out in big numbers to watch us which has been a big boost. They have been missing this form from the team. The more we win, they will certainly stop watching the games at home and come to the stadium. We have a good connection with the fans, and it is because of them urging us on that we have won difficult games,’ Billiat concluded.
