Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Khama Billiat believes Amakhosi will remain one of the big club’s in the Absa Premiership, despite their three-year trophy drought, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

Kaizer Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat has leapt to the defence of the club’s pedigree amid their ongoing struggles for silverware.

The 28-year-old stunned many when he opted to join Amakhosi from Mamelodi Sundowns instead of making a move abroad.

However, the Zimbabwean international has been in fine form for the glamour Boys this season – having already scored five goals and assisted a further four from 12 appearances in all competitions.

Billiat, who was recently named Absa Premier Player of the Month for September, insists the club is bigger than any player at Chiefs, stating they have to accept that and fit into the ‘Amakhosi style’.

‘I think whatever happened before with the club doesn’t mean the club is not big anymore; the club is always big,’ Billiat said.

‘The club has always been doing well, and we never lose respect for the club. What’s happening now, the club has done bigger before.

‘So, we just have to come and respect that and follow the way that the club wants us to work, and we’re just here to work for the club and do better.

‘We’re not here to change anything, we’re here to see if we can actually fit into Kaizer Chiefs’ style, because the club is always bigger than us.’

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they welcome Polokwane City to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday with kick off set for 6pm.
