Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat is delighted with his team’s performance, especially after the recent injuries within the squad.
The Glamour Boys managed to collect all three points at the FNB Stadium after playing out to a 2-0 victory over Golden Arrows through a penalty from Daniel Cardoso and an own goal from Nkosinathi Sibisi.
Billiat, who walked away with the Man of the Match award, believes his side showed real character and professionalism to overcome a stubborn Arrows side, despite all their recent injury setbacks.
‘Firstly, I want to thank God for giving us the strength to keep on going – three games in seven games, it wasn’t easy. It took a lot of energy [out of us] and, hey, congratulations to the guys … we showed character, we showed professionalism and we worked as a team,’ Billiat told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘We stuck to the game plan, we didn’t go all out in terms of going to press them in the first minute. It really worked for us. It’s been hard for us but through working hard and following the instructions of the coach, the supporters, they never give up, hey.
‘We thank God to stay injury free, we have so many injuries in the team so we really need to work hard individually to try and prevent [more] injuries. I’m so happy, I just want to give [dedicate] this to the supporters and the boys, they really worked hard.’
Kaizer Chiefs will next take on Mamelodi Sundowns in a mouthwatering fixture at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 27 October, with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
