According to Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung, the signing of Khama Billiat from Mamelodi Sundowns was easy due to the way things are done at the club.

After announcing the signing of former Baroka goalkeeper Virgil Vries, the club’s manager spoke to SABC Sport about the Soweto giants’ new acquisitions, while also alluding to their search for coach.

“It was not difficult to get Billiat even though we know he’s a big player and was set to go overseas. We do things differently at Chiefs,” he told SABC Sport

With Billiat reported to have attracted interest from abroad, Motaung highlighted the factors which helped seal the deal.

“Chiefs is a big club. We do things uniquely in terms of how we negotiate our deals and approach the players. It was a number of factors that clinched the Billiat deal”

“It was natural for him to come here cos Chiefs is a big club. We also engaged with his family and after doing that it was welcoming and easier for #Billiat to come to us”

Motaung then boasted that Chiefs had not pulled off a last minute coup by signing the Zimbabwean forward, insisting that there was no pressure to rush the deal.

In addition, he suggested that the club are in no hurry to make further signings, as with the announcement of their coach.

“After you sign Khama, you must relax and calm your nerves. We are not under pressure to try and prove a point. We do things the Chiefs way.

“We were not in a panic and we are still not. We do things the Chiefs way.

“The Chiefs way is Khama. You take Khama then you relax. That’s the Chiefs way. No pressure,” he concluded.
