SuperSport United forward Jeremy Brockie admits that the interest shown by Mamelodi Sundowns in him increased his confidence and desire to score goals.
Brockie continued his rich vein of form as he netted his tenth goal in the Caf Confederations Cup second-leg semi-final as Matsatsansa sealed their first-ever spot in the final of the continental tournament.
Sundowns and SuperSport were engaged in a tug-of-war for Brockie’s services, with the New Zealand-born man even handing in his transfer request in a bid to force the move. However, Brockie maintains that he accepted the decision to remain with SuperSport.
‘It was flattering seeing two big teams fight over me,’ Brockie told The Star.
‘I saw it as a compliment. It boosted my confidence.
‘A lot of people thought it would disturb me, but it did the opposite. I am driven to repay them for the faith that they have shown in me.
‘I accepted their decision and focused on my game because I am a professional. My loyalty to them can’t be questioned,’ he concluded.
